A Note from Alexander Rapaport, Executive Director
I Remember seeing a 10 and 11 year-old at a previous distribution, disassembling their package tyring to make it fit on their bicycles to take home. Their mother, Mrs. Friedman,* a single mother of four, was unable to provide for her children, but was too embarrassed to come herself, so she sent her sons to ride 25 blocks to pick up the food. They could only schlep what fit in their bicycle baskets, and were forced to choose which items would serve their family best.
What would you choose? The frozen chickens that weigh a lot? A smaller package of red meat? The non-perishables? Or the fresh fruits and vegetables? I approached the boys who were loading packages of chicken onto their bikes, and helped them squeeze as much as possible into their baskets.
Fortunately, Masbia was able to help this family. But we need your help to conitnue feeding men, women and children, each with his or her own story. Make your Passover more meaningful by donating today to help feed the hungry.
The Passover seder starts by announcing "Everyone in need, should come and eat." We at Masbia soup kitchens say this all year round. Please donate today to enable us to feed people on Passover and every day of the year.
Your timely donation will determine the size of Masbia`s Passover distributions and how many people we can feed. Please click here.
